Perforated (Drain) Garage Tile

Otherwise known as the “Drain” tile, the Perforated tile is specifically designed to have more ventilation than any other tile Floor Junkies offers. Reigning as one of the most used products, the “Drain” tile’s unique mesh surface offers extra air and water flow in addition to the grid structure underneath. With a distinctive inwardly diagonal web design, it gives the illusion of being bicolored and checked. Easy to Assemble

Installation for this product is as simple as piecing together a puzzle. Each tile snaps together with a four loop-to-peg interlocking system; two sides of the tile have loops and the remaining two sides have pegs. Since the interlocking system is so convenient, tools are hardly necessary because the tiles will attach together with a single downward push. Naturally, rubber produces a higher quality of friction, making the Rubber Underlayment ideal to reduce sliding and shifting. Because this tile does have a rigid exterior, you may contemplate using a small plastic mallet and knee pads to further ease your installation process. Please download the Garage Floor Tiles Installation Guide for a more detailed explanation.

TIP: If you are installing the drain tiles over epoxy painted concrete, please note that there will be less surface friction, so the tile will have very little grasp on an epoxy covered subfloor and has the potential to shift. Rubber underlayment can easily be used for additional friction to your floor, please visit our Garage Floor Accessories page for more information.

Slip Resistant

Small raised traction control features on the tile’s surface enhance the surface grip. Not only does this tile provide traction control, but with its lattice construction, any liquid that comes in contact with the tile will naturally sink beneath the surface, thus making the “Drain” tile nearly slip-proof. Using a degreaser may make the tiles slippery. Make sure to take proper precautions when cleaning.

Stain Resistant

This particular tile is the easiest to clean. Given the fact that the Perforated tile’s netted texture leaves small individual openings on the surface, the chance of oil, grease, hydraulic fluids, and other liquid stains developing permanent residue on the tile is minimized. However, it is still possible for some debris to remain on the tile until it is washed off, especially if it is a sticky substance. When this happens, it is completely appropriate to hose down your floorboard to remove such stains. With the perforated tile, water is less likely to get trapped underneath its surface because of its web-like design and grid structure. However, dirt and dust may collect on your subfloor, which would require you to hose down your tile and let the debris get swept away with water. For harder-to-remove stains, using a degreaser is ideal. It is highly suggested for you to place a protective mat underneath an area containing acidic liquids as it will damage the tile. For more information on how to properly care for and clean your tiles, please visit the Garage Floor Tile - FAQ page.

TIP: The tile resists most chemicals found in a garage, however, battery acids and prolonged exposure of other chemicals may damage the tiles. Make sure to take proper precautions when cleaning and that the tiles are fully dry before walking on top of them.

Mold Resistant

The physical structure of the perforated tile and the high-impact polypropylene material prevent mold growth. The ventilation of the surface itself allows full air and water flow so that liquids may escape, thus helping to prevent the process of mold growth. If used in an area where large amounts of water collect, you will need to disassemble the areas affected to clear your subfloor of the excess water. For more information on how to properly care for and clean your tiles, please visit the Garage Floor FAQ page.

TIP: Please note, this tile will not prevent mold from developing on an object on top of the tile or on the subfloor. Routine cleaning will enhance the life of the flooring.

Rigid Structure

Each tile measures 12 x 12 x 1/2-inch, or 1 sq. ft., making installation a breeze, much like a large puzzle. Even if the subfloor has cracks or damage, the rigid structure of the Perforated tile forms an even floating floorboard to mask the imperfections that lie underneath. The Perforated tile is intentionally designed to be inflexible to create a firm garage floor.

TIP: Engineered with high-impact polymer plastic, this tile is not made to bend.

Lightweight and Durable

As the lightest tile in inventory, the “Drain” tile makes the assembly of your floorboard an almost effortless experience. Although the tile is lightweight, it can withstand a substantial amount of weight. From something as small as a piece of furniture to large vehicles such as SUVs, trucks, planes, etc., this tile is made to be a reliable, strong base when used properly.

Just as these tiles are easily installed, they are also easily removed. They will remain locked until intentionally unlocked. However, when detaching the tiles, be sure to remove them all from the same side. Made to be portable, these tiles can be taken with you wherever you go. They are small, compact, and lightweight for your convenience. Whether you are moving residences or traveling for a trade show, you can easily take your Perforated floor tiles with you.

Designed for Garages

Given the hard high-impact polymer plastic used to create the Perforated tile, this product is UV protected and is best used in a garage setting. Its hard surface is perfect for supporting the weight of motor vehicles, tool chests, refrigerators, pool tables, and other items you may find in a typical garage. For other designs please visit our Garage Floor Covering page.

TIP: Please note, pinpoint weights may cause discoloration and potentially damage the tile. Plywood or another protective flat rigid surface should be used when using jacks or other sharp, heavy objects. For permanent vehicle lifts or other heavy permanent objects, tiling around the object is recommended.

Accommodates Other Uses

Although the Perforated tile is mostly used in garage settings, its physical structure makes it just as useful in many other environments. The high-impact polypropylene tiles are made with UV protection, making this tile the perfect solution for an outdoor patio or driveway. Since the Perforated tiles are also water resistant, they can be used by a swimming pool or a cabana area, outside as well as indoors. It is also commonly used in combination with other tiles, given its neutral look and extra traction control for automobiles or garage perimeters with water problems.

NOTE: These tiles will not interlock with any tiles purchased prior to 2010. If you purchased tiles prior to 2010, they will not be compatible with tiles produced after 2010 due to differences in height and the locking system.

My Experience with your productReview by Frank B. Highlands Ranch,CO
My garage floor had been epoxy coated but after year and a half later started to peel, looked terrible and the flakes were tracked on shoes making a mess in the house.I chose the perforated tiles because of price and also in the winter the water and melted snow could be more easily drain out.Installation was not a big deal, I did that all by myself within 3 hours . Tiles came in a box of 30 with a great shipping method (Fedex Ground). Final thoughts, overall I found the BlockTile floor tiles to be a smart choice to use in a garage floor, it protects the floor better yet it looks great. (Posted on 6/8/2012)
